New Deployment / New Built: Full System Installation

RCI Ovation is 1st of the 2 Royal Caribbean Biggest and Newest Vessel, I and 1 co-worker installed and configure the cellular and Wi-Fi system for the vessel and setup the GSM, CDMS, UMTS to work on the system. WE had to connect, verify and test each antenna and check for noise/ signal interference and install filters where needed. Install and configure all equipment needed in the server rack to run the system. Install GPS antennas on deck 17 and connect to equipment on the 2 deck. Connect system to the satellite feed using the credentials supplied by O3B / Harris. Test system at sea and in ports to make sure equipment, system and services turn on and off accordingly. Update documents with new blueprints and diagrams layers.

New Deployment / New Build: Site survey

RCI Harmony is the 2nd of the 2 Royal Caribbean Biggest and Newest Vessel, I and 1 co-worker did the site survey in St Nazaire, France. We had to meet with the IT officer, contractors, and installers to go over diagrams and blueprints and schedules. I had to check and verify all drops run on the vessel (Wi-Fi & cellular). Check that the correct cable type was used coaxial (LMR 240, LMR 400), fiber (single, multimode), cat (5, 6, 7, shielded, unshielded). Check number on all cables and verify with blueprints and diagrams. Check all terminations for Coaxial, cat, power and fiber to equipment needs and measure connectivity / light levels. Create spreadsheet of pass / fail drops that need to be checked. Mark locations for all antennas to be installed on the vessel. Check server room and network with satellite provider to get network credentials. Install router and switch to get network up and on line, check speed, packet loss and network connectivity. Content to server at Miramar and run test and setup network connection to vessel. Contact NOC Network Operations Center and verify if vessel is online and have them conduct their tests. Document and take pictures of everything. Update deployment documents and server with new information. Send email to my manager, IT officer, contractors, and installers. Sign off on paperwork and leave vessel.

  • Verify that the cables are being terminated with the right connectors.
  • Check and verify all RDP locations are in the correct room and make sure server rack is installed, document and take pictures.
  • Check and verify location on all wire runs, verify All fiber terminations completion/ type and numbers on cable,
    • Check the measurement for all runs and identify if cat7 extenders or fiber repeaters equipment will be needed and all runs are numbers according to project specific test plans.
    • After ceiling is installed check for obstruction and ideal antenna placement. Meet with installers to ensure installation is correct.
  • make sure all equipment is labeled and all cables plugged is labeled with where and from it’s plugged into.
    • Provide direction for IT officer. Communicate with office via email.
  • Update server with new document for the project. Pics, Blueprints, Diagrams, Documents.

Renovate all Wachovia banks and corporate offices from West Palm Beach to Miami. Completed All the telecommunication installations:  from

  • pre-construction, renovation, repair, and upgrades to demolition.

  • Prepared workstation outlet locations (installs wall jacks, floor, or modular furniture jacks).
  • Installed horizontal station cables and backbone cables.
  • Terminated and tested twisted-pair copper and optical fiber cabling.
  • Build out telecommunications rooms and equipment rooms.
  • Firestop walls, tests, troubleshoots, documents test results on copper and optical fiber cable.
  • Wire infrastructure to comply with ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards and the National Electric Code.
  • Understand, adhere to, and promote the Environmental, Health & Safety policies of AFL Telecommunications.
